About the Centre -

The Model Treatment Centre (MTC) under the National Viral Hepatitis Control Program (NVHCP) was established in the Department of Medicine at L.L.R.M. Medical College & SVBP Hospital, Meerut, in the year 2019. The Centre provides complete screening, diagnostic evaluation, and free treatment facilities for all types of Viral Hepatitis (Hepatitis A, B, C, D, and E). Operating under the guidelines of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, the Centre aims to prevent, control, and eliminate Viral Hepatitis while providing comprehensive care and support to affected individuals.

 

Facilities & Key Services Offered -

Comprehensive Screening (Hepatitis A to E): Complete diagnostic screening and evaluation for all types of Hepatitis viruses (A, B, C, D, and E).

    • Registration & Clinical Care: Mandatory baseline evaluation and systematic patient management in OPD No. 4C.
    • Free Antiviral & Supportive Treatment: Provision of free antivirals (Sofosbuvir, Daclatasvir,

           Velpatasvir, Tenofovir) and supportive medications for hepatitis management.

    • Immunoglobulin Administration for Newborns: Administration of Immunoglobulin to newborns of hepatitis-positive mothers at birth to prevent mother-to-child transmission.
    • Viral Load & Diagnostic Monitoring: Pre-treatment, mid-treatment, and post-treatment Viral Load testing to assess treatment outcome.
    • Counseling & Peer Support: Individualized counseling on medication adherence, transmission prevention, diet, and lifestyle.
    • Data Management & Tracking: Regular digital record updating on the official NVHCP portal by dedicated staff.

Capacity Building & Training Programs (2024 - 2025) -

To strengthen healthcare delivery and ensure high-quality patient care under NVHCP, the Model Treatment Centre (MTC) organized specialized training programs in 2024 and 2025. These capacity-building workshops were designed to train key staff members from peripheral Treatment Centres (TCs) and peripheral facilities across the region.

    • Target Cadres Trained: Comprehensive operational and clinical training provided to Nodal Officers, Medical Officers, Pharmacists, and Peer Educators.
    • Key Training Objectives: Enhancing clinical management protocols, proper drug inventory management, counseling methodologies, early screening, and seamless patient tracking.
    • Impact on Patient Care: Equipped peripheral staff with updated NVHCP guidelines, leading to improved diagnostic accuracy, better medication adherence, and high-quality care at treatment centres.

World Hepatitis Day & Awareness Rally/Programs -

On World Hepatitis Day, the Model Treatment Centre (MTC), SVBP Hospital, L.L.R.M. Medical College, Meerut organizes key events and public outreach activities to build mass awareness regarding hepatitis prevention and treatment:

    • Awareness Rally & Public Outreach: Organization of an Awareness Rally and outreach initiatives to educate the public about viral hepatitis transmission, early screening, and prevention.
    • World Hepatitis Day Observance: Conducting special awareness programs to highlight free diagnostic and treatment services available under NVHCP.
